Scholarship Program

Purpose

The 7 Mile Fair, Inc. Scholarship Program was established in 2008 by the owner and Scholarship Committee. The objective of 7 Mile Fair's endeavor is to serve the public interest and benefit the flea market industry by fostering high standards of conduct, personally and professionally. This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors who are employees or children of employees of 7 Mile Fair, Inc.

Scholarship Availability/Deadline

There are two (2) scholarships available per school. These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of 7 Mile Fair, Inc. Applicants or their parents must have provided of minimum of six months of service to 7 Mile Fair, Inc.

  • Amount of Award:Minimum of $500 and maximum of $1000
  • Application Postmark Deadline: April 1st, annually.
  • Recipient Notification: May 15th, anually.

The award will be made by June 1st, annually, and the scholarship will be announced at 7 Mile Fair and in the local media.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicant must be an employee or the child of an employee of 7 Mile Fair, Inc. for a minimum of six (6) months.
  2. Applicant must have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater throughout high school. (Verified by official high school transcripts)

Application Process

  • Complete an Application furnished by 7 Mile Fair, Inc. (Ask at the office)
  • Submit high school transcripts
  • Complete an essay with a 250-word minimum, maximum of 500 words, detailing how 7 Mile Fair, Inc. has positively impacted the student's life.
  • Descriptions of involvement in any extracurricular, community service or charitable activities.

 

EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

7 Mile Fair, Inc. is commencing a program to provide scholarships for employees who are current high school students at Racine Horlick, Racine Case, Racine Park, Oak Creek, Franklin, Union Grove and St. Catherine's. Employees are eligible to receive $500 or $1000 per year for higher education, including junior colleges and vocational/technical schools, as well as four-year institutions. A total of $7000 in scholarships will be awarded each year to one or two students from each of the above listed high schools.

Qualifications for eligibility include:

  • A minimum of six months of employment at 7 Mile Fair, Inc.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater.
  • Community service.
  • Completion of an essay.

7 Mile Fair, Inc. will form a Selection Committee to evaluate applications in an unbiased manner. Each student must provide academic records, standardized test scores and a summary of participation in school and community activities. Each applicant will be asked for a statement of educational and career goals, as well as references.

Applications are available to employees at the main offices. Completed applications, along with an official transcript from the respective school, should be sent to 7 Mile Fair, Inc. Scholarship Selection Committee and received no later than April 1st, annually.

Scholarships will be presented to selected students on Awards Night at their participating high school.
